Rest in peace Paul Harrell.

A Farewell to a True Professional

I think the first video I watched from Paul was back in 2019 when I was randomly recommended a video where he talked about less-than-lethal ammo. Right after that, he dropped the absolute classic that was the infamous 1986 Miami FBI shooting analysis, and before I knew it, I was binge watching his entire catalog. The guy was a powerhouse at capturing the attention of anyone who accidentally stumbled upon his channel, a master of his craft and a true entertainer.

I've always been into guns aesthetically, but Paul made me appreciate the technicalities of them (and Pop-Tarts too) to a level that made most other gun YouTubers feel off. Not bad, of course, but it wasn't the same. He was basically the embodiment of the cool uncle everyone jokes about, and I can confidently say that most people who watched him felt the same way.

Paul was also a comedic genius, sharp as a tack. He honestly reminded me a lot of Norm Macdonald, another great person who tragically left us too soon. It’s no wonder that even in his literal death announcement, he could still get a laugh out of the viewer to ease the situation. I hope he passed knowing that he didn’t disappoint anyone as he thought he might have. Quite the opposite, I don't think the field of outdoors/guns will ever see another figure like him, at least not in our lifetimes.

I hope God grants him eternal embrace and that his family finds comfort in these trying times. Thanks for everything, mate. You were one of the real ones.
